I don't know - 127 seems a little high. LOL!

She was hungry this morning... When I woke up on the couch at +8, I decided to test one last time for the night, since she'd been surfing the blues just over 100 all night. Glad I tested - she was 78! Yay! I don't know why suddenly it seems like she reaching nadir later in the cycle. Unless those blues were the slightest bounce ever over her greens in the AM... seems like the last couple nights she's lower during the day (which is not convenient for me when I'm working, of course). She had a snack last night at +8, I left out a tsp or so for a snack when I went back to sleep. That was pretty much gone too this morning. She ate her first Tbsp FF well, the 2nd Tbsp was not finished... She ate probably slightly less than 2 Tbsp so far. A little vocal this morning (and lately) - that always makes me nervous.

Today is Blue's "get out of jail" day, hopefully. Follow-up appt at 9:30 am. This morning, around 3 or 4 am, he cried in his cage a couple of times. That's the first time I've heard him do that, except for when he sees me with a food bowl. He was out of the cage till 2 am last night, while I dozed on the couch. I'm planning on celebrating his birthday today (it was actually yesterday - don't tell) since I'm looking forward to an end to the e-collar, I think he would tolerate the cage any time, but that e-collar is awful.

Ok - I have some things to finish up this morning - got to clean out the carrier (try to get rid of the vet smell from Blue's return trip after surgery) and finish up some laundry. Maybe try to disinfect those pet steps, which I really keep avoiding for some reason.

Re: 6/28 Kasha AMPS 127

Lovely number for Kasha this morning!!!

Good luck to you and Blue today! I hope he gets his "get out of jail card" and passes go!

Re: 6/28 Kasha AMPS 127

Oh, Krys...you did not just say that 127 seems a little high for Kasha....did you!!!! LOLOLOL :-D :-D Kasha is looking so good! Nice job there! Keep up the good work, you two and before you know it.... a field of greens may be all you see!

I bet Blue will be so happy to be able to stay out of the crate. I hope the vet visit goes well and that your beautiful Blue will have the run of the house again. Happy Birthday to Blue too!!!!

You know, with nice numbers for Kasha, Blue healing so nicely and a birthday to boot, you really couldn't ask for a better day, could you? This is certainly a good day

Re: 6/28 Kasha AMPS 127 Blue Update: Free at Last!

That's right... Blue no longer has to be in his cage and more importantly: NO MORE E-COLLAR!!!!

He's grooming and grooming right now. Got a lot of grooming to catch up on. He's licking the incision, which makes me nervous but the surgeon said all looks good and there's no need to bring him back in. He (vet) picked at the scabs remaining on the incision to make sure no sutures were sticking thru (he didn't see any). And that was about it.

He said in cats, chondrosarcoma is less likely to spread to the lungs and since his lymph fluid looked good... he feels optimistic. He also said that some might recommend chest x-rays at intervals to verify that there was no spread to the lungs - but he doesn't feel in this case that we particularly need to do that because, as he said, if it does go to the lungs, what are we going to do about it? Right - because there really wouldn't be any treatment options, since this type of cancer doesn't respond well to radiation or chemo. So...

I had a nightmare last night that I'd confused the times of our appointment today - showed up at 1:30 pm instead of 9:30 am... So, guess what I did? Yes, my brain has finally given up, I confused the times and showed up late. Not at 1:30 pm, but I kept thinking we had to be there at 9:45 am, instead of 9:30 (even though I just typed 9:30 in my morning condo post!). So, I was running around, doing laundry, vacuuming, cleaning litter and disinfecting pet steps... Thinking I should leave by around 9:25 to make sure we got there by 9:45... And I left late - around 9:30 - 9-35... and it was raining... and the people in front of me didn't understand "right turn on red" or speed limits... On the way there, I got that sinking feeling as I realized our appt was at 9:30 and we were late before we ever got down our street! So - got there just after 9:45. Got right in. The surgeon was pretty brief with us - not sure if that's how he would have been anyway or if it was because we were late. In case you haven't guessed - I HATE being late. With friend or family, particularly if they commonly are late, not a big deal. But for appointments, I'm always on time... So... this drove me crazy... Even after that dream I had... LOL, what a morning. I feel like we drove there, got out for about 5 - 10 min, then drove home. Took me more time to put Blue's carrier back together in the exam room (we always take it apart to take the kitties out more easily) than the actual appointment took.

Whew!

Stopped at got some coffee and scrambled egg's at McD's on the way home. I think I should have asked for decaf...

Oh - and Kasha was 59 @ +4...

Re: 6/28 Kasha AMPS 127 Blue Update: Free at Last!

She DID say 127 was a little high! Way to go Krys, Kasha must be feeling wonderful!

Blue, you be good today and try not to terrorize everyone when you get out of the slammer! It's a great day for all of you!

Re: 6/28 Kasha AMPS 127 Blue Update: Free at Last!

Would you believe Blue went right over to the cage when he got home? And he's over there, lying against it (yes, actually touch it) and still grooming...

I really think he doesn't mind the cage too much. I think I may start feeding him in it, so I can feed Kasha in peace. He's already hit both of her food bowls since we got home.

Re: 6/28 Kasha AMPS 127 Blue Update: Free at Last!

OMG 127???!! :o
did you get a ketone test?
Oh Kasha...please come down from that ugly number!
LMHO
So gald that Blue is free....figures that he goes right to the cage. Didn't hear the vet? Great report ...great job!

Re: 6/28 Kasha AMPS 127 Blue Update: Free at Last!

Hey, if 127 is high, Maggie has Kasha beat! So exciting to hear about Blue out of the cage. We can't wait to see more pics.

Re: 6/28 Kasha AMPS 127 Blue Update: Free at Last!

You guys are too funny!

For a second, I thought, "Oh no - maybe I need to get a ketone test with that 127!" and then my tired brain sorted things out...

Ok - gotta go to tBp!

Re: 6/28 Kasha AMPS 127 Blue Update: Free at Last!

YAY!!!

Blue must be so happy to have free run of the place. And you must be relieved to know he's doing so well. To say nothing of Kasha. Your SS is a world of difference. Nice to know what getting rid of a UTI can do!!

Re: 6/28 Kasha AMPS 127 Blue Update: Free at Last!

What a great number to start the day and the week off. Hope Kasha sees lost more of those great numbers. Good luck at the vet.

Re: 6/28 Kasha AMPS 127 Blue Update: Free at Last!

Really nice numbers for Kasha lately, but gotta be careful of those high blues.

Love Blue going back to the crate. Tess hates going into the carrier, but once we get to the vet she keeps trying to get back in. angry(2)_cat

Re: 6/28 Kasha AMPS 127 Blue Update: Free at Last!

What great news about Blue! And oh dear, Kasha's "high" 127 is just too funny!

I read your post about your morning and vet visit ... and now I have to go calm down, your frantic pace was contagious! I hope you have a calm evening. Congratulations again for Blue's good report and new freedom.

Re: 6/28 Kasha AMPS 127 Blue Update: Free at Last!

Well, so much for a calm evening... I get out of work at 5:20... go home to feed and shoot around 6. And then, waiting for the horse vet to call so I can drive out to the barn for him to look at my horse (I already told him I want to be back to check on Kasha by around 9:00 at the latest, so if he can't swing that, we'll have to do it another time).

Whew... It's going to be a LONG day...

As for Blue, when the vet pulled away some of the scabs to check for any stitches poking thru, the under-scab area was not quite ready for prime time yet... I thought it was bleeding, but it wasn't and the vet said it will scab over again... If Blue has been licking at it all day, I might have to put the e-collar back on...

Oh what a day! I hope Blue hasn't been licking the under area. Maggie says to tell Blue she can't wait til the next party. She liked his collar, too. I hope everything is okay with your horse.

Re: 6/28 Kasha AMPS 127 Blue Update: Free at Last!

Kasha's spreadsheet is beautiful now. I think there may be more dose reductions in the near future (anti-jinx).

Re: 6/28 Kasha AMPS 127 Blue Update: Free at Last!

So many good things happening in here!

Re: 6/28 Kasha AMPS 127 PMPS 124

Another high blue - LOL... What could be causing these spikes!?!?!?

I am exhausted. I got home and could not find Blue. Looked and looked. Well, he hasn't been out of the cage in so long, I forgot he had a new hiding place - under the desk... I fed him in the cage, I want that to be a safe place. I also want Kasha to be able to eat a bit undisturbed. She ate nearly 2 Tbsp dinner. Good enough - I didn't have time to think before the horse vet called and I was out the door again.

The vet is not sure what is up with Tigger. He says it's not founder (laminitis -very serious issue for horses) but he seems unsteady and shaky. His heart sounded good. He's got some weight on him for once. He's eating. But he's acting like a horse who ran a marathon the day before. We don't know if he just really pulled muscles and he's recovering slowly or if it's something else. He took some blood to send out. He recommended a joint supplement - we compared with what I'm giving. His is a little stronger, but mine costs $30 something for 40 days and his is $65 for 15 days. Gonna stick with mine for now.

Now - how great is this: He drove back to his office (opposite direction from his home) to take the blood samples and try to get a courier out tonight (the blood may not go out till tomorrow if he can't get anyone). Then he's picking up some powdered bute (anti-inflammatory pain med) and dropping it back off at my barn so Tig can have it in the morning. He's even writing Tig's name on it and the instructions for the feeders. My barn is near his home, but because of construction, he can't get to his house from my barn right now - he has to backtrack and go all around to get home. So - he's going way out of his way for me and I think that's just awfully nice. We're talking country vet here - not some high tech vet (like the ones Kasha and Blue have!). Just plain nice. Wow.

Ok - picked up a pizza on the way home. Didn't want pizza, but it was on the way and I had a coupon ;) So, maybe I'll check in later. Maybe I'll be passed out...

Re: 6/28 Kasha AMPS 127 PMPS 124

What a nice Vet for Tig! He's taking such good care of him. Nice PMPS for Kasha, almost the same high as the AMPS :-D Maggie said to tell Blue she will share her blue blanket with him. She likes the pink one. Pizza sounds so good. I only had Trader Joe's chicken soup.

Thank god for Trader Joe's! That's where I got those organic spaghettios I had to boost my blood sugar this weekend!

I have lots of extra pizza (my coupon was for a large and it was cheaper than a medium or small with toppings so...) - I'd share if you weren't so many time zones away!

Blue keeps sleeping near his cage. Here's where I found him as I was headed off to work earlier today:

Re: 6/28 Kasha AMPS 127 PMPS 124

Aww, how sweet! That cage belongs to Blue, like his little house. I love Trader Joe's; all kinds of really good food. It is sometimes cheaper to order a large than a small with the coupons. Wish I could zip on over for some pizza. I will have to check out those organic spaghettios!

Re: 6/28 Kasha AMPS 127 PMPS 124

Blue used the pet steps! I got out of the shower and found him on the bed with Kasha. The bed is quite high up - there are pet steps, but I haven't seen Blue try them. However, he must have, because there he was!

What great progress for Blue! And you must be breathing a sigh of relief to know now that Blue's able to get himself around better than you had thought. I suppose there may still be a few bumps and troubles as he learns to get around all over now, but he sounds like a pretty determined fella and he got himself up when he wanted to get there.

About the cage, I think they must have some attachments to the cages or crates because Oliver just LOVES the huge dog crate I scooped out of the recycle bin in my bldg. He treats the thing like his house in a way. Say he's tired - he just walks in and lies right down for his 'nap'. He also lies on the rooftop.

Before I adopted him, he was dumped at a vet place to be PTS and had been in that environment for some time. Maybe he got used to staying inside a crate, I don't know but that's my guess.

The cage may be like a safety place to Blue. If you have the space, you could leave it out and set up for him, kind of like dogs have dog houses, cats need places too.

I attached a couple pictures of Oliver's 'house'. I had no idea what I was going to do with it, but once Oliver and also Booboo claimed it as an item of value, it had to stay.

Awww... great pics... Those kitties have it made!

Well, I don't really have the space for Blue's cage - but since when has that stopped me? Kasha's lying in a large box right now from when I got a bathroom vanity installed 3 or 4 years ago? LOL - I don't even notice all the kitty boxes, etc. that are lying around. Usually it takes a comment from my mom ("Oh, I thought when you bought new beds for them you would get rid of those boxes...") to make me focus in on the stuff lying around!

Just want to say how I enjoyed those pictures of your babies Oliver is a twin to our 17 year old Schooch Beautiful all of them LOL Kath
