6/26 Kasha AMPS 159, 42 @ +6.2! Dosecrease! PMPS 86!

Ate a good breakfast this morning - again, over 2 Tbsp FF Beef and chicken... I have to buy more today.

Weird night... I was really tired, had a hard time staying up. She went over to the papasan cushion near Blue's cage (he was on the couch with me) and was lying there. At one point, she was grooming herself and I think she had that head tremor/spasm she had 2 other times when I was feeding her in her bed. I can't explain it, but she just kept grooming herself as it was going on and it only lasted maybe 10 - 15 seconds (Think Katharine Hepburn and her head tremor). She also had a few episodes of this sneeze/hairball/hack that she does on occasion. I don't know if it's really a little hairball or if it's something like a sign of asthma or something else. She has been congested/sneezing this week (although, not very much the last day or 2 - when she grooms, she sounds a little congested, but otherwise, few sneezes or sniffles). I'll ask the vet when we go in for a urine culture - hopefully next week.

I am so very, very tired now. Think I'll try a Saturday morning btb...

P.S. Only 2 more days till Blue's follow up visit!

Hi Krys,
I hope Kasha will be okay. She has a nice AMPS. Blue sounds like he is progressing so well.

Sometimes fatigue catches up with us by the weekend. Hope you can catch some rest today. Any takeout breakfast today?

Hi Ann - too soon to tell... after I wipe away the tears from watching those wonderful OTJ videos for Tuffy and Vesta today... I'm going to try to get another hour or so of sleep. Then I shall reevaluate the food situation...

The little girl is taunting me with these numbers... I thought - yeah... going for a dosecrease... Put down some more LC and she wasn't interested - just chillin' out under the papasan frame cave. Checked again in 20 minutes (since she's been known to dive) and...62. Hmmm... Maybe she ate right before I got that 54, don't know. Maybe it's just meter reading variation... Or maybe she's just somehow keeping herself from dropping low. Either way, it's probably good to keep her at this dose as long as she needs and not rush a dosecrease... But I still feel like she's teasing me (especially since she KNOWS it's easier for me to measure the .5 than to try to measure those in-between numbers like .75!).

Oh well, we still have a few more hours where she might drop, she has food out and I'll be watching her.

NOW I'm getting hungry!

Hi Krys, You needed a bit more excitement in your life, right?? Looks like a green surf for Kasha today. Stu is looking forward to seeing her and Blue at all the parties.

But it's what kitties do so well...they love to tease and taunt and get us in a tizzy. It's fun to watch us. Maybe Kasha's not that way, but I know several who enjoy seeing me worked up and worrying over them. :lol:

Wow - so glad I tested her again... I even did a second test to verify the first - I was so surprised. She seemed to be holding pretty steady and increasing a little at +4 and +5... Trying to trick me, I almost didn't test, but came in from watering the plants and all her food was gone - always suspicious... She eats when she drops low...

Although - I don't know if she ate it or if Blue ate it - because he jumped down from the couch all by himself! Yes - I ran outside to water quickly while he was dozing on the couch and when I came back in, the food was gone and he was eating from the bowl in his cage. Then he used the litter box in his cage and hopped back out to hang out with the rest of us!

It's a big day. I think Blue wanted to practice some little jumps before the parties tonight. Hope it impresses Maggie!

She's eating some Wellness now - she has turned her nose up at Wellness for months, so you can tell she's hungry.

So - should I go down to .5 units now? I always feel better getting the experts' opinions/confirmation here...

Wow, Kasha is wanting a dosecrease, my goodness! Maggie will be impressed no matter how high Blue jumps. :-D

Very beautiful numbers that Kasha is getting, Krys!! Oh, I can remember when you first came on the board, how far Ms. Kasha has come :-D

Have you tried any lysine for the sniffles and sneezes? I used it for my civvies and Spot when they started to sneeze. I gave it for about a week and it helped. If the sneezeys continue, why not give it a try?

I am so happy to hear that Blue is doing so well!! You just can't believe how happy my heart felt when I heard that he jumped down from the couch and is getting along just fine by himself. Blue is a fighter!

Hope you get to rest and relax a little bit today since BTB'ing wasn't an option! Oh, and tell Kasha congrats on the dosecrease, I'm sure it will come.

good luck with the dosecrease! Maybe now that the Baytril is done, Kasha will rush back down the dosing scale. That would be fun (wouldn't be the first time that has happened).

Yay... and Deb - they have been getting lysine for a few days now and the sneezes have decreased...

Crazy thing just happened. I was getting ready to leave the house. Gave Kasha another check at +8.5 (61) and then I got really shaky... I had some cereal and iced tea today, but haven't had a real meal. So, I chalked it up to low blood sugar. Then I though - duh, I can check that! So, I changed lancets and checked my BG - 67! Well, that confirmed it. I ate a can of organic spaghettios (my HC food!) and I'm chilling out for a bit now. Kasha obviously handles those lows much better than I do.

Hey, pretty cool, not that you felt shaky and had low blood sugar, but that now you can check your own glucose. This is supposed to come out right..but not sure how it comes across with my writing. Anyway, glad you are feeling better -- organic spaghettios, too!!

that happens to me sometimes too, and it's kind of scary. I'm glad the kitties handle it better than we do.
 
Wow - that 86 was after I waited 15 min or so... my first PS was 77 and I figured maybe just wait to see if we were headed back down for some reason!

Gave her the dosecrease tonight - no reason to wait this time!

Crazy day... She didn't eat that much of her dinner - a little over 1 Tbsp, but she was eating all afternoon - she even finished off the Wellness (which she considers Badness now since she likes the FF much better) I'd left for her. Wow... I can't believe these numbers..

I'm running out for a hike/walk now so I can be back shortly to keep an eye on her.
 
What a great day you had. And Blue did great too! Congrats on the dosecrease. I like Libby's idea of rushing down the dosing scale. :RAHCAT
 
WOW Krys! What a great day you and and your kitty babies have had. Blue is out jumping around already and Kasha gets a dosecrease after those fantastic numbers! YAY! :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: You sure didn't want to sleep through all of that!

What a super way to start the weekend!

Kasha's in the blues right now.

I'm kinda blue myself - my farrier emailed me about my horse. He could barely trim his hooves today, Tig (my horse) is so stiff and sore. I've had him on joint supplements for a week now, but it's obviously not enough. And with my schedule, I can't be out there with the vet till next Saturday. Something else to worry about, I guess.
 
I'm sorry to hear about Tig. How old is he? That is so hard to see out pets suffer with stiff joint

I went back and looked at Blue, and I do see his one blue eye. How sweet. And there were more pictures or maybe I didn't use the arrow. He's a gorgeous kitty. I know he's a boy, but he's still beautiful. I have to get that digital so everyone can see Maggie. The strips are breaking me!

Yes - we need to see a pic of Maggie... I'm going on eBay to search for more test strips now... have to be stocked up!

Tig is 28 - he'll be 29 next month, on 11 July.
