Sent an email to the vet about raising her dose on Friday (when I can monitor over weekend), if this continues. I dont think she has ever spent an entire cycle in the pink.

Does anyone know if I have to catch urine midstream for a ketone test, or can i press the stick onto her pee pad?

Sorry I have not been a good neighbor lately. Work...and trying to sort things out with latte is time consuming. Fell asleep most of last night. Good thing I woke up right in time for bed! :?

I've caught it midstream and also done the dip into the "puddle" that forms, but without touching any litter.
Don't be sorry - this new board is a handful! Latte and YOU are priority one ;-)
Hope u have a good day!

    Nice decrease so far.

No worries about not visiting. You need to take care of yourself, too.

She seemed to be feeling pretty well when I got home - up and about, demanding I lay in bed and make a tent for her to cuddle under, not drinking, etc.

I got ketosticks. 9/10 times she pees on a pee pad from inside her box. of course so far since I got the sticks she has been peeing in the box. Typical cat. I will keep trying. Though I really dont think its a problem.

Set an appt for blood draws and tests at the University on Monday. They have always made me schedule an appt with a vet when doing any diagnostic. For some reason her specialist is making an exception. He is however, requiring a urinalysis. Wish I would have known, because I wouldnt have bought the ketosticks. Oh well. If one of the leading researchers of feline kidney disease wants to study my cat's pee, I guess we will let him...if i can convince Latte to hold it for them. Last time we were there she peed buckets all over the floor, twice. Dr. P shook his head at it because it just wasnt 'right' I say she was just ticked that they made her sit in the room so long.

So, we will have a full chemistry panel, blood/gas test (for metabolic acidosis), and a u/a. Any chance someone out there knows the difference between a full chem panel and an EC8?

We may have some time challenges with insulin that night and no real flexibility to be late. Im not sure what to do about it. Most likely we will be stuck in rush hour traffic at shot time. She needs to get these tests done asap, and the only time frame I can do it will interfere with her shot.

Im going to try and take a shorter nap this evening and pop in to catch up on my neighbors later tonight. I miss ya all!:YMHUG:

Just a tip. In desperate times, I have been know to ........ umm.... cup my hand under her while she's in the box. There's nothing quite like the feel of fresh warm cat urine ;-)

Another nap waking just in time for bed....arg. Must be so tired

still has not peed out of box for ketone test. She uses an enclosed box so its hard.

    Runny poop at +4.75

I eat my words as I was typing she just peed out of box. Either it does not work to press strip into pee pad or she is negative.

If anyone see.s this post and knows... If she has been above renal threshold for a little bit during a 24hr period, but not at the time of u/a, will sugar show in her urine? Or if its the opposite..below rt at most of day , but above at time of test? Is it an over time type detection or at the moment? Hope that makes sense.

again, will try to be more social tomorrow. I see lots of good stuff going on in LL!

This, I believe, is dependant on the cat and how fast the glucose clears the urine once BGs come below r/t.

Generally, at least in cats with stress hyperglycemia at the vet's office, going above r/t just at the point of the u/a will not cause glycosuria.

I'm still pretty peeved about those strips not getting to you. USPS so rarely loses packages completely. Going inquire about it tomorrow and see if they can find the damn things. They're always good to have on hand.

    I'm sorry I failed.
