Rushing to get this up ASAP. Just found this one today. DX on Friday, scheduled for PTS tomorrow (Wednesday), but the shelter says they may be able to get Camille a little more time. They've had her for 18 months, but now that she's diabetic, it's a death sentence.

She's young, 2-3 YO. No other health issues, not even URI even though she's been in the shelter so long. 10 lbs. Teeth sparkling white. 3-way test (FIV, FeLV, Heartworm) clear. Might be part Maine Coon.

"A spectacular cat." Likes people, cats, and dogs. The cat placement director is heartbroken. I am trying to work with her to get Camille on wet food (I think the director is going to buy it herself). They are a small community and do not have a foster network.

This is probably a stress/diet diabetes that could be put into remission.

Re: Camille in VA scheduled for PTS SOON!!

What a beautiful girl! I hope someone steps up soon!!!

I'm full up here but I would be happy to help with transport costs or supplies.

Re: Camille in VA---TRANSPORT NEEDED

We have found a placement for Camille and are looking for someone(s) who can transport her 75 miles north up I81 from Lexington VA sometime this week. If you can help, please PM me.

Re: Camille in VA---TRANSPORT NEEDED

just wondering, Venita, I have a friend who's daughter lives in the DC area, is that close? If so, and she may be able to do this, would there be help w/ gas money?

Re: Camille in VA---TRANSPORT NEEDED

Thanks for the offer, Deb, and from Melissa too (by PM).

I have just spoken to the shelter manager and found they do a weekend transport. I need to check their route and see whether we can work with that first.

Re: Camille in VA---TRANSPORT NEEDED

WOOHOO! Camille is going HOME!!! I worried about her since I saw the post, she was so pretty and so young. I bet she will be OTJ as soon as she relaxes in her new home. Poor girl it sounded like she has spent a good deal of her life in that shelter, she deserves a furever home where she can be the light of someone's life for many years to come.

Max sends her many purrs and head butts.

It is really not close. I Google-mapped it and Lexington is 188 miles from me and I live by Reagan National Airport.

Don has Camille. He said he has never met a cat be so loving so quickly. She is very laid back.

Her BG level when he picked her up was 413, and he will be starting her on .5U Lantus this afternoon.
