I don’t understand why his BG would go down and then go up?

Zappa just got out of the hospital- long story - now he’s circling his litter box over and over.

He has peed 3x today.

???
I’m ready to go back to the hospital

Oh I hope not! What do the vets think?
When you say the BG went up 30 points... can you tell us the numbers?
I'm sure you must be very worried. Are you allowed to stay with him?:bighug::bighug::bighug:
Please keep us updated.

He was at 340 PMPS
I gave him his 1.5 Lantus, antibiotics, gabapentin
Checked again 3 hours later and he dropped to 315. Eating well, relaxed and went to the litter box. All seemed well. Checked him again 2 hours later and he went to 369. He suddenly started acting disoriented and was pacing all over the house. He never does that. Tried to hide. I tested again - 391. So I brought him to emergency.

I’m worried one of his cysts is leaking into his system. He was also acting crazy going in and out of the box, trying to pee. He already peed 3x today, so I don’t think he’s blocked.

He’s just been through so much the last 4 days, I feel so bad. This is our third emergency room in 4 days. CT, multiple ultrasounds, getting the cyst in his pancreas drained, every test you can imagine…

The only good thing is he didn’t throw up.

If he’s going in and out to the litter box a lot he might have FLUTD which can be caused by stress and the symptoms include visiting the LB frequently, doing tiny amounts of urine each time.
The BGs in the PM cycle are not really unusual. You don’t test a lot in the pm cycle so you don’t really have much to compare them with. I’m sorry you are both still going through all this.

The vet says he’s ok. His BGs dropped slightly, she’s not seeing any fluid in his belly and no ketones. Checking urine, giving fluids and we will be released.

OMG.

His next dose/meds are in 2 1/2 hours. I’ve had almost no sleep for 5 days. I’m just glad he’s ok.

What a relief! He might also have stomach pain. Has he pooped recently? Normal? One of mine did that followed by diarrhea.
