? Yum had some blood in mucus on poo: consistent with antibiotic induced diarrhea?

Yum had formed plus liquid poo this morning. She threw up water next to her downstairs litter box after passing it. Later one of the cats had wet but formed poo in the upstairs letterbox, with some mucus with some pink drops of blood. I am 95% sure it was Yum's poo. Are mucus and blood consistent with antibiotic induced diarrhea? I probably wouldn't have seen them before when it was just liquid poo. I am waiting on a call back from the vet.

Poor Yum! Sounds like her intestinal tract is very inflamed. Are you giving Slipper Elm to her to help?

Quintus has had a lot of that. I've linked it to certain foods. (One of the reasons I'm going very gingerly with the transition to LC wet food, because the NF kibble he has been on until now clearly seems to be the only food with which he gets proper stools.)

I'm interested in any other experiences/points of view on the question.

I know Quintus gets mucus and blood at the end of his stools (often ends up pushing a bit on the bathroom carpet, out of the litter box, and I get drops) if he eats grass, or any milk product (even three licks).

I believe the mucus is indication of IBS with kitties.

She is getting slippery elm bark when she eats the food containing it. I don't think she likes the smell or taste. I will try smearing it on a paw. Key word in your email is inflammation. Will that elevate her BG?

I gave one of the civvies the milk product kefir yesterday for the first time. I wonder if it was her poo and not Yum's? There was a drop on the carpet by the litter box. Yum had yellow pudding poo for a long time before I realized she can't eat beef or lamb. Nothing as dramatic as what we are going through now, though.

Yes, inflammation always increases BG's. I am sorry your baby doesn't like the taste, most cats don't mind the SEB in their food. I would just keep making a slurry and syringing it into her.

The Slippery Elm Bark helps. And I got my cats off of commercial wet cat food. I know feed raw and they do so much better. Perhaps your commercial cat food is more species appropriate for your kitties.
