911 YIKES insulin left on counter for 2 hours :(

I am so upset, I got home late from picking up my daughter from classes, then after Hershey's test and shot left the insulin on the counter. Will it still be good. It was inside the little box, but when I felt the bottle it wasn't cold. Help :(
 
No panic needed.
It may wimp out a little sooner, but should still have quite a bit of use to it.
Check it for floaters and if/when you see those, its time to replace.
 
Don't think it's a problem. I did that a couple of times and saw no issues with the insulin later.
 
When I bought a frio pouch to put my insulin in in the event of a power outage, the woman in Customer Service told me that they contacted all the insulin companies to require proper storage and ProZinc told her that refrigeration wasn't even necessary but they put it in the instructions to help the shelf life. She provided me the number for ProZinc and I meant to call them myself and never did. Now I don't have the number. Might be worth a call just to know for sure.
 
I'm the queen of forgetting to put the bottle away. Every time I get a new bottle, I tell myself this time it's not gonna happen. But at least once with every bottle, I leave it sitting out. And not just for a couple hours but usually the whole 12 hours. I've never noticed a change in potency.
 
Well, it's been awhile..but I do have something to add here about leaving ProZinc on the counter after dosing!
I left mine out the very FIRST time I used it, for 5 hrs!! :mad: I was panic stricken and so embarrassed, I couldn't even tell anyone I did it!!
I worried for the next week, or more :nailbiting::nailbiting:
But I never noticed a difference at all!
I even did it AGAIN. 2 HRS or less, but still..!
I am nearing the expiration date now, and while it may be losing a bit of to-be-expected potency..I've never seen floaters at all.

You are welcome! I have been meaning to call the ProZinc and just confirm what I was told. I would hate to start a rumor. How are you and Tucker doing?

I think I will give 'em a call myself. I want to pick their brain! I like knowing this stuff, whenever possible, it gives you alot more "cushion" and peace of mind. Knowledge is power baby!
Tucker is being his usual self..unpredictable! But I have been having medical issues, and I wasn't able to do much more than the basics with him for awhile. I am hoping with his next bottle of insulin, to be able to get back on track with him, and the Forum!
I hear ya'll went with the Lantus! I pray for the best for you and Sweet Bubba!!!
I think of you guys often. Bubba stole my heart.

Brenda, I am so sorry you are having medical issues and hope that they will resolve. It is hard enough to take care of our sugar cats when we are feeling tip top, let alone when we don't feel good. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

I just stole a peek at Tucker's SS and he has had some nice numbers during the daytime. We have been at this for about the same time. Bubba just has a month on tucker for being on the juice. Yes, we switched to Lantus because he was so stuck in the 200's. If I increased the juice, all his numbers crept up too. I took him up then down......... It was weird. I am hoping for a good result with Lantus. It was scary switching and having to learn a new protocol. Hopefully I will learn it well to be able to help The Bubster.

Feel better and I will keep you in my prayers as well. :bighug::bighug:

So. I know you've struggled very much like this with his up and down numbers. It's NUTS. I really hope you get him going with the Lantus. I know the terrible feelings we have when we're powerless in this dance. They are so helpless!
I know they may be fierce, or naughty sometimes...but one look, and your heart can be either flying, or broken!
They really call the tune, don't they? :) :cat:
