Wow! Big # difference ?

I tested skittles on my main meter ( it’s a Prodigy and his BG was 149 so I fed him ,no insulin and decided to wait 2 hrs and test again. But I didn’t realize that I was very low on out strips. So I got out my back up meter. My back up is a different brand ( ReliOn Prime from Walmart )
I tested him with one of my main meters strips AND with the ReliOn to see how much of a difference the numbers would be.
Here is what I got 172 on my main meter ( Prodigy , from my privately own pharmacist )
And 249 on my back up ( ReliOn Prime )

Isn’t this a big difference?

I can get 50 strips for my Prodigy that are cheaper then the ReliOn from Walmart. I can also get Prodigy strips at my local Walgreens

Guess I should say this , my pharmacy is a locally business and is only open Monday through Friday from 9 to 7 and Saturdays from 9- 2 and Walmart is open 24/7. Walmart is a little closer to me , but my pharmacist has cheaper prices on my meds and don’t limit my meds like Walgreens and Walmart does on my controlled meds and my pharmacy personal to their customers, they know me just by looking at me and automatically know what I need. Like last month when I went to buy my strips they automatically knew that’s what I was there for and grab them before I even asked for them. The Big box chains don’t care or even take the time to know me..... know what I mean?
So looonnng story short, that’s why I have to different meters. If it’s 2 AM on Sunday and I lose my strips or run out I can go to Wally World but I guess I’m gonna have to stay w ReliOn Prime

The meter accuracy is +/-20%. Applying that to each meter results in Prodigy meter reading as high as 206 and the other as low as 207. That means the reading are really at the edge of the accuracy band.

One thing I have learned here is to always keep at least one extra container of strips on hand. Right now I have 8. I order them from Amazon and I order a bunch whenever I see a good price. You can go through a lot of strips if kitty's BG goes low.
