Hello all, I need a bit of advice. Tony was diagnosed about a month ago, and the last two days his blood sugar has been high. He ended up throwing up yesterday, I didn't think it was a big deal but tonight his glucose is under control (224) he threw up again just before shot time and seems nauseated and doesn't want to eat. I did get him to eat small amount of his old high carb kibble but that all he would eat. He also seems a bit wobbly when walking around. I checked his urine for ketones (there were none detected), hes not straining to pee, but I'm more than a little worried, this guy has NEVER turned down food a day in his life. Im posting the link to his spreadsheet as well. Help please!
Hes on one unit of lantus 2x a day.

sorry i double posted this, after reading up some i realized i posted in the wrong place the first time

You have 224 as the PMPS for last night (6/29)

Did he eat fairly normally from the time he threw up yesterday and then threw up again right before tonight's shot time?

I guess I'm trying to ask how much has he eaten between the vomiting yesterday and tonight?

whoops, im just trying to get used to using the spreadsheet. His pmps tonight was 224, he ate pretty well last night. He hasn't wanted to eat much at all today aside from a few treats. Yes he threw up both yesterday and tonight before the pmps

Well with his BG being reasonable and no sign of ketones, I don't think you really need to go to the ER tonight (unless he gets worse).

I would get at least 1 other test in tonight though. It's important to get at least a "before bed" test on the PM cycle since most cats go lower at night.

Also, lantus is based on how low it takes them, so if at all possible, you should get at least 1 mid-cycle test on the AM cycle too.

When you have a few, please read this post on "How you can help us help you". There's lots of good information there, especially about getting set up here with your "Signature" so people don't have to ask the same questions over and over and it also lets you put your spreadsheet link in so it automatically posts every time you do. (if you look below any of my comments, you'll see my "Signature" in lighter text)

Yes, please test a couple times after the PM shot. I had the same thing happen to Bandit this week and he is in the ER because his BG dropped too low. I am not saying this will happen to Tony, but losing a little sleep in order to test him to make sure he is ok is worth it. If I had not got up to test him I may have lost him.

I did end up with him at the emergency vet the next day, they could find nothing wrong but gave an appetite stimulant and anti nausea meds, plus sub-q fluids. I kept pushing because although he started eating again, he was still off balance and developed a head tilt last week. It turns out, he has an ear infection that nobody caught. Hes been on antibiotic ear drops since friday and is improving quickly. Thank you guys! And sorry for the delay in replying, I had no answers yet and life has been overwhelming to say the least so i got a bit caught up in everything going on
