Hi all,
I was wondering if the Glargine Lantus Solostar insulin pens must always be refrigerated and if the insulin goes bad in them if they are not. I left mine out last night, and it will cost me over a $100 here to get a new one. Please help!
Thanks.

We've all done that once or twice. The insulin is fine.

You can get cheaper Lantus from Canada. A lot of people in the US do. Here is the link. It is a legit store in Vancouver.
There are also some generic Lantus equivalents now in the US. Basaglar and Smeglee. They are much cheaper.
Thank you!

The pen should be fine. In fact, with humans, you don't need to refrigerate the pens. We suggest keeping them in the refrigerator because a cat typically uses only a fraction of the amount per dose that a human needs. As a result, the pens last a lot longer and keeping them cool, helps with their longevity.

Try the generic glargine. See:

Select a pharmacy and click on Get Free discount. If it has a pet restriction, then click on I don't qualify, show me other options. That will list a price hight that the restricted price but should be less expensive than real Lantus from Canada
