I have been racking my brain trying to figure Mya out. :? Her cycles are complicated. If anyone has a chance to take a look at her SS and give there input I would greatly appreciate it. On occasion I will get a nice blue or yellow, but it is after a large dose of insulin..... then im back to smaller doses....especially if I have to go to work.....otherwise I may go with a larger does. I work M-F 7-4 home by 5pm to test...So I cant check during the day, unless it is an evening or weekend. I know Mya is just as frustrated as Iam.... and wishes I would stop poking the hell out of her ear.

I have gotten wonderful advise from this forum and just want to regulate Mya at this point.

Looking at the last few cycles after the fact is easier than trying to predict the future, but here's what I think went on...
The greens you saw on the 29th look like they caused a few cycles of bouncy numbers. Yesterday they were settling down, and the bounce cleared last night. Right after you shot a higher dose, which of course you had no way of knowing was going to happen after the red PMPS Mya gave you.
The .7 probably would have worked last night and may have given you a shootable number at AMPS today? Good call on the smaller late shot today. Let's see how it plays out.

so in order for me to get back on my 5am and 5pm schedule. I will be checking her sugar at 5 pm which will be a little more than 10hrs from her am dose of insulin....I usually do not give the insulin until 5:30. I don't think that this hour and half early will hurt... in fact it could help to keep her from going to high. The question is what will she be and what to give. I was going by the sliding scale that I have listed on my ss in the comment section.

I don't think early will hurt, especially with the smaller dose earlier. Post your number and what tge scale says you should shoot. Might need to adjust the scale?

ok so I got 410. This is my SS
Over 400 - 1.25u
350 to 399 - a fat 1u
300 to 349 - 1 unit
250 to 299 - .75u
ie 200-250 - 0.5U
150-200 (and rising) - 0.25U or whatever the absolute minimum dose you can give is!

per the scale I should give 1.25 but I have not given that. I would more likely give 1u. If you look back at 3/29 that is what I gave for a 410 and she dropped to green at +7 and +8.....then I got a purple the next morning which may have been the liver dumping more sugar. So I almost think I should go with 0.8 tonight.

But giving 0.5 this am still landed me at red and It is an hour and a half early.

Sorry, I missed it, but it looks like you've made a good decision with the .8, IMO. It looks like the 1u lasted too long last night, which I said earlier. Glad you went lower.

You're doing great, I overslept today. That cycle last night wasn't horrible, it's just funny that 0.8 and 1 get such a different response. She's gotta be about done from those blue bounces.

ok so I think Im getting somewhere with the 0.8. This pm I got a nice yellow 272. So im thinking of giving 0.7. not much of a difference but maybe just enough to keep a steady drop as opposed to big drop that may cause a bounce.

Good plan. No, it doesn't sound like much of a difference, but if measured exactly, it's a 12.5% reduction in dose, which is fairly significant. When I get to looking at this tiny doses and adjustments, it helps me to look at it as a percentage instead of a number.

I think Im also going to limit the amount of checks that I do on Mya. I will do a +3 and +6 tonight.... more if I feel she will be dropping to low. Im thinking that with all the tests I have been doing she is being stressed....not only by the sticks but on the lack of sleep....that her body needs to help make her better. That being said maybe that has contributed to the erratic numbers I have been geting. I need to just sit back and see if Mr. P will help out.

I have a confession to make...
Bob got two shots of PZI per day for ten weeks. I can count the number of times I tested more than once betwen shots on two fingers. Both times he went below 50, so I thought another test was prudent. The rest of the time he got one test around nadir during either the am or pm cycle, or he didn't get checked until the next preshot. Oh, I ran a mini curve two or three times. My point is that just a +3 and a +6 is fine, unless you catch a really alarming number.

Carl

so got 360 this am...basically the same as yesterday morning....so I can look at the 0.7 in two ways A... not enough or B...Got the same result as the 0.8 did... but on a lower ps number. So Im going to go back to 08 for this am.
