I am new to the Health Board. I have been on the PZI support site for about 2 weeks now. They have helped me tremendously trying to get Wiggle Worm regulated.
Wiggle Worm is a 14 year old cat that has been diagnosed with diabetes for about 6 months. Along with that, the vet said she felt a mass in his abdomen. I took him for an ultrasound and the specialist told me that on the x-ray he had a large mass in his pancreas. She asked did I want to biopsy it. But she told me this would be useless because he probably would not live 1 month.
My husband and I were so heart broken at the time, we did not want to put Wiggle Worm through any more pain. So, we decided against the biopsy. We just decided to bring him home and love him and take care of him the best we could. That was 6 months ago! He is on Prozinc at the time. I am giving him about 1.25 units twice a day. His numbers are a little high right now, but through advise from my dear friends on the PZI support group, I am going to follow their advice. They have saved his life giving me advice for the past two weeks.
Two weeks ago on Easter we had lost all hope of him living another day. I did not home test at the time because I was too scared to. I started home testing on Easter, and following the advice of my dear friends in the support group, and Wiggle Worm is back to normal. Eating 4 cans of Fancy Feast a day and actually grooming and playing a little. I am so thankful!
Finally, my question is regarding his violent tail twitching. He did not begin this until about 6 months ago when I started the insulin. I have asked the vet, and she doesn't have a clue about what it might be. His tail twitches at least 75 percent of the time. When he walks around, he wags it just as a dog wags their tail. Sometimes when he is trying to sleep, he cannot sleep because his tail just keeps moving.
Has anyone ever heard of this problem? And advice would be appreciated.
