I just took Oliver's +4 and he was 37! Immediate retest of 38. I know what to do but this wasn't how I planned to spend the day. Glad I tested.

YIKES!! Good catch!! Isn't that the way...our kitties throw us curves at the least inopportune times!!

That certainly is a massive dive Oliver did..glad you know what to do for these hypo numbers. Good luck with getting his numbers back up quickly and safely :bighug:

Glad you were able to get Oliver back up to safer numbers. My two will often take turns diving, but sometimes they will decide to both try their swan dives at the same time  One is very carb sensitive and the other I have to work harder at so they definitely keep me on my toes. I am certain they spend time scheming as to how best cause me to tear my hair out. :D

No doubt they do scheme behind your back. Tuck, who was my first foster, was very carb sensitive and easy to steer. I really haven't had a hypo like this with Oliver since his first crazy night here. I wasn't sure what to expect. His pancreas either played a little trick on me or maybe I drew up more insulin than I realized. Who knows.

I do remember when I shot him this morning that I thought I pulled up less skin than normal. So perhaps my normal method lands the insulin in a little fat which I know slows absorption. Or at least it does in people.

I have wracked my brains so many times trying to figure out why a shot one day will drop the numbers drastically (not coming off a bounce) and another time (with no bounce) shooting the same dose in the same way in the same location, it does almost nothing. It is said that absorption rates can vary greatly from day to day, so sometimes there is no telling what our kitties have in store. I have given up trying to figure out why and just roll with the numbers...so much less brain strain ;)
