B.A. did excellent at the vet's and I survived. nailbite_smile I picked her up after work. She seemed to feel really good. She explored the house, soon used the litter box with NO Glucose in the urine and settled in for a nap. After an hour I fed her, and went to get her insulin and syringes. At bedtime BG 189 at 10PM. Fed her, she seemed to be feeling well. At midnight she had a major vomit. From the vomit I discovered she had ate on her own (which I didn't know as she doesn't eat very often on her own), then I fed her a full meal. Suspected the vomiting was from overeating. At 4:00 another intense vomiting episiode. After vomit BG was 270. Likely having a pancreatitis flare. Called vet. Gave anti-nausea meds, subq fluids and 4 hours later gradually began to give small amounts of food. Plan to give first insulin dose 8.a.m was off until the vomiting passed. Urine glucose was back 1000+ At 5:30PM, after 12 hours of w/o vomiting, tested BG and gave 1/2 unit. continued to fed, gave pain injection and monitored. This morning gave anti-nausea meds, pain injection, fed and checked GB 184 gave 1/2 unit. Urine Glucose 500+ this afternoon. I'll check BG before bed and hopefully get some urine. If no vomiting, will check BG, give antinausea meds and give 1/2 unit in morning before work. I am so afraid of giving insulin, going to work, she vomits and becomes hypo with no one home. I'm going to talk to the vet about just keeping her on the 12 hour dosing...What a way to start. I was hoping for an unevenful nail biting adjustment to giving insulin..getting her moved to a morning dose timing good for work and lots of TLC....ended up being a scary weekend.........B.A. is sleeping beside me snoring.........what a beautiful nose. I love this little girl. Tomorrow is going to be soooooooooo scary!!!
