When to increase dose?

Thanks in advance to all of you who have already offered encouragement and advise with regards to Alfred. These high reds just won't quit. The vet had suggested 2U in the AM and 1U in the PM, but based on the lows we got (not everyday) with the 2U in the past, I took the more conservative approach and have been giving 1.5U twice daily. How many more cycles should I wait before trying 2U or 1.75U? And is it recommended to alter the dosage morning and night, or try to find a consistent dose. I can understand adjusting according to pre-shot numbers but all his are just so bloody high.

Also, vet called today with FPL blood work to see where we were at with the pancreatitis. She said "normal" is the ranger 0-3.5 and Alfred's results were 9.4 - so still significantly elevated, but nothing near the 50 he showed a month ago when we first went to the vet.

Thanks, friends....I so appreciate your insight. And hope you all have a lovely weekend!!

Usually we say 3 cycles and increase by .25 if they are in lower ranges and by .5 if they are higher. As it is the weekend and if you can monitor, maybe add the half unit and see. Interesting how he tends to react well at first to a dose change and then flattens out.

Okay....so I'll increase to 2U this morning and be able to monitor him today. I just wish we could get him to some "reasonable" numbers. I worry about what's going on inside his little body with all this sky high BG. :(

I asked the vet about switching back to Lantus and she thought we should go a bit more with the ProZinc, but I'm starting to wonder. Hard to know what to do and what is just "grasping".
Appreciate all the knowledge and advice here.
