When does hypo danger end?

Charley has steadily been dropping all day. He is still dropping at +10. How long does the threat of a hypo with Prozinc last? I just fed him an early dinner since he obviously won't get his insulin tonight. We need to go out for a few hours. Are we silly to leave him?

Tricky. I think his pancreas has started to work, so it isn't just the insulin. The insulin may wear off as the pancreas kicks in.

What number is he at now?

He's at 110 @ +13. This is with food. He ate about an hour ago.
Charley told me he has had enough pokes today. He's been so patient and good. I was a worried momma. Quite a 6 month anniversary gift he gave us!

That is awesome news! And at +13, if he drops any more it will be from his own insulin, not what you shot earlier. He won't, on his own, force himself into "hypo" numbers.

Thanks for both of your input. I am curious where he'll be by morning. Interesting what the new vial is doing. How bad is it for him to skip his third dose in a week? Does it hurt the pancreas more?

No. What hurts the pancreas is high BG numbers. It looks like his pancreas is trying its best to do this by itself, which is very encouraging. It means this is "working"! When you give insulin, you are helping. What he doing is letting you know he needs less and less help.

This is so encouraging and brought tears to my eyes. I have been just freaked out that it was harmful for him to skip doses. I love this fuzz ball so much.
