I usually buy FF by the case and last time it was $.50 a can - now it's $.59 (.55 on sale at petsmart). When did this happen. What do other people use? Harley has only had FF but I can't afford that anymore and no time to make my own. Any suggestions.

That's why only KT get's his few cans of FFeast weekly now - everyone else has to make do with Friskies. Even the Friskies is going up to 50 cents a can at PetSmart. Dry as a supplement sure was cheaper....but they're worth it... :-D We open 8 cans a day minimum. Drooler's food is going up up up too. You can contact FFeast/Purina and they'll send you coupons that help.

Does regular Friskies make a LC other than FF? Wow, this is crazy. Harley is worth it but he will be eating better than I do.

Regular Friskies Pate, 9-lives pate and Walmart's Special Kitty pate is all low carb, in fact Walmart's Special kitty Tuna and Chicken dinner is only 3% carbs, which is what Maxwell and Musette are dining on. Because with 12 cats my budget not only doesn't stretch to feed 3 oz cans, it certainly does work at 59 cents for those 3 ounces. Although I think DH and I are going to start ordering EVO cases on line since we can get 12 (13.2 oz) cans for $21 +shipping which is going to frankly work out cheaper for us in the long run to put everyone on a better food, and have it delivered to the front door, than to spend the gas to keep driving across down several times a week ( Our Walmart is lousy about keeping things in stock) to get Special kitty or paying 50 cents a can for Friskies, which now has rice in it which was making 7 of my civies sick. <sigh>

If you have a pet food store around you that sells Wellness, the 12.5 oz cans of the Chicken and Turkey formulas are worth looking into. I'm currently working on switching my girls to them, and if all goes well, feeding those varieties will be about $7-8 cheaper than feeding FF a month for me, more when it's on sale. Those varieties are higher in calories as well, so my girls will only need 5 oz each a day, so they'd be cheaper than feeding the other varieties since with the other grain free ones they'd be needing 6ish oz a day. So far, my girls are loving the Wellness.

Pet food is going up across the board. For those who feed Wellness, the 12.5oz cans just went up by almost .25 cents at my local pet Supplies Plus store. I order online again, until their prices go up too!

Through today I believe Pet Food Direct offers free shipping on orders over $59 up to 50 lbs. Code is SHIPFREE. A case of Wellness 12.5oz cans was $26.50, cheaper than in the store by almost .40 cents.

Where do you order cases of Evo from? I didn't know they came in larger cans - I am considering moving from5.5 oz to larger as I think Cedric doesn't think he gets enough food. Claudia will confirm that for me I think! The 12oz wellness cans I have only seen at that local pet food store I have gone to. The Evo I buy is the purple label - chicken & turkey. he doesn't like the 95% stuff. if I bought that, the stray would probably end up getting it too. Right now he gets Friskes pate, cedric gets wellness & Evo with a little FF thrown in if on sale.

CVS had FF on sale for 50c a few weeks back on a tax-free weekend here, and they had a surprisingly good selection, so I bought a lot then. Then Big Y (a local supermarket) had them on sale for 50c last week, so I got 30 and had $1 coupon (whoop-de-doo). The 12- or 24-pack boxes are a decent deal, but unfortunately the choices are "eh". I read somewhere, probably here, that the big cans of Evo are cheaper per oz than FF, but I haven't checked the math on that.

ETA: uh, yeah, it was mentioned in the post above this one

I have seen several price increases lately for many brands. The big friskies cans I get went from .99 up to 1.29 at one chain store.

For me, ff has been out of our price range so I just get when there are sales. I do get their HC ff though; I don't need to give large amounts so the 3oz cans are plenty.
Normally, I get friskies, the 5.5oz cans of all the pate flavors. I also get the 3 flavors that come in 13oz cans. As well, I watch for big sales on chicken breasts, skinless/boneless, then pack each one separate and freeze for later.
Then to spread out the food and also to keep them regular with the restoralax added for nicely moving bowels, I soup their food.

actually changing over to a more expensive food (wellness or evo, 13 oz large soup cans) has actually saved me quite alot of money
those large cans last 2 cats just about a day and a half where as the FF i was going thru at least 4-6 cans a day.
check around for those mom and pop type pet stores, i found that i get a discount at the one i use if i buy a case at a time. so the large EVO cans are costing me $1.89 im adding some wellness into the mix and have to get some pricing on it
