OK, this is getting old already. Two Tropical Storms in 10 days that just appear out of nowhere?
This is our busiest weekend of the year, and I'm working the late shift, so you might not see much of me. There's over 1000 people in the campground, and there will be thousands on the beach for the next three days. Rip currents, big waves, all that associated junk. In an hour or so, I will have to start answering this question at least a hundred times a day..... "So, what's Beryl doing?" Yay.

Going to rehearse my answer now...

I'll check in later.

Carl (who is thinking of changing his last name to "Cantori")

Take care of yourself while you are caring for all those crazy tourists! I had heard this was going to be a milder season than last year. Shows, again, what the meterologists know......

And to think the official start of hurricane season starts June 1st. Experts said last year was going to be busy & it wasn't. I am really hoping it isn't a busy season this year. After Ike did some damage to our house I just don't think I go through another one. It's darn scary!

So what is Beryl doing?

Carl have a great holiday weekend!

Our weather alarm went off at 2am- scared the poo out of us. It was our notification that our county was under a tropical storm warning. I hate this time of year!!! Hoping everyone stays safe. Sometimes these little storms can still cause a lot of damage.
On a positive, I have 5 more days until this school year is over and vacation starts!!!! Looking forward to being able to catch up with everyone. Charley has been doing great Pmps tonight 216.

First person asked "So, how it looking?"
I'm thinking, "what are they talking about? their bathing suits? their ugly shoes? what?" then I "got it"...

Carl: "You mean for tonight?"

Guests: "Yes."

Carl: "Well, I'm thinking a nice Rib Eye on the grill with a baked potato as soon as I get off work."

Guests: pregnant pause, then "No, we meant the storm...?"

Carl: "Oh. Well, it isn't doing anything here tonight, so you're all good".

Guests: "okay thanks....." and then they walked quickly away muttering to each other. Probably aren't eating rib eyes and baked potatoes for dinner so they were expressing envy?

Carl

Ya gotta love those storms.... watch em coming off the coast of Africa for 2 weeks [usually], then they're STILL not here... just get here already or turn, will ya?!!!

I have to make it interesting, LOL. Not sure why, but some folks just don't grasp my sense of humor...

Next thing you're gonna tell me is there's alligators on the beach. Never underestimate a woman's intuition.

Gators on the beach are very rare, they tend to hang out of the west side on the island where the fresh/brackish water is. But I can recall one occasion where a lady was out walking on the beach at night and tripped over one in the dark! How scary would THAT be? It must not have been hungry, or she would never have gotten to tell that story.

Something to consider for those in stormy areas... I know one concern is keeping insulin cool w/o power. Just found an interesting gadget that.may help. The frio insulin cooling case contains a water-activated gel that keeps insulin cool for a minimum of 45 hours at temps up to 100°; also insulatwd to prevent freezing at lower temps. I have one that's still cooling 5 days since I activated it. Available in several sizes, including ones designed for pens or vials.

Sorry about the commercial, but I thought it might help. Mom nought me a couple ywars ago but.i never used it. Pulled it out in prep for a trip next month & dwcided to play with it..works better than expected.

Where did you find the insulin cooling case Lisa?
Might be a good idea to get one for hurricane season. We lost power for a few hours today thanks to Beryl.

Yeah! Wondered how you did with the storms. We were in the outerbanks for a week too at Hatteras and the riptide and waves were huge. A little windy, but still enjoyed the beach everyday in the sun and wind. No swimming though  . Had a great times. Hope you are ok. Looks like it's going to be a rough hurricane season.

Wow! This is great! Something that hadn't been on my radar, but now that you mention it, would not be a bad thing to have on hand. We've been without power for up to a week after a hurricane. Fortunately, I live close enough to work, and there's a huge generator there, so I've had access to refrigeration... and one time when we were without, a friend owned a commercial building downtown, and they were on the first grid recovered to keep Police/Fire Dept up.

Thanks for sharing... you may want to do a post on Health so more eyes see them.

Carl - the coming out of nowhere is scary! The ones that usually visit us take their sweet time coming, and then tend to linger once they arrive... and the damage.... months to years! Uggg!
