I'm thinking I need smaller doses for Jose. Trying to eye ball a .75 is pretty difficult so I'm look to use U100 syringes. Where should I go to get the U100 needles. I want to make sure I get the correct ones. I know I will also need to use the conversion chart.

Never did I think Jose would get down to below 1 unit ! I really am glad I found FDMB and started home testing. Better late than never!

Morning Rebecca and extra sweet Jose! You can get the U100 syringes with half unit marks at Walmart and Target. We use Lantus so don't know if the conversion uses the same U100 needles. I use 8mm short needles/31 gauge for 'da sugarboyz'. The syringes will probably be behind the counter so you'll have to ask for them. They also may not realize they have half unit marks on them....

GOOD LUCK! GO JOSE GO!!!

You want the:

Relion Insulin syringes, 3/10ml-cc, 31 gauge, 8mm - short needle.

I took the info straight off the box. Get them at any Walmart, box of 100, $12 and change.

It will depend on your state. Maybe call and ask?

Beautiful pic of Jose by the way. He looks like my Oliver who was a black and white Maine Coon.

I'm sorry hon! I didn't even think about other states law might be different. I'm so used to just walking in and buying them.

Hope you don't need a prescription. But if so, you shouldn't have a problem getting it from the vet.

If you do, you may be able to get them from an online pharmacy, even if they cost a couple $ more and a different brand.

And if you ever misplace the conversion chart, just remember every tick mark on a U-100 with half unit marks equals 0.2 units of a U-40 insulin.

Thank you! My friend gas a Maine Coon mix that looks similar to Jose and since seeing her I have wondered if Jose also has some Maine Coon mixed in him but I guess there really is no way to tell since he came from a rescue shelter. He's about 23 inches long and his fur is usually a lot longer but since we don't have central air, he gets a Lion Cut every summer so it doesn't get as long as it naturally is.

Thank you to everyone that gave me info about the U100 syringes. I am going to call walmart tomorrow to check. I live on the boarder of Ilinois and Wisconsin so maybe between the two states one won't need a perscription and I won't have to worry about it :).
