What treatments are for urine irritations?

Patches, my 7 yr old is having some urine issues.

She goes to the litter box alot and just dribbles. Then she goes and licks her privates.

She did do a dump today, so she is not constipated.

I have an vet appt tomorrow for her, but what will they end up doing? Will they just put her on antibiotics? I have amoxi that I can give her if that is all they are going to be doing.

She has been eating my other cats' Royal Canin Renal dry food that I bought. I didn't think it would hurt her since it is for kidney issues. My 19 yr old has kidney issues.

She just had blood work a couple weeks ago that came out normal, so they should not have to do bloodwork again.
 
Frequent urination with irritation could be several things- infection, sterile cycstitis, bladder stone, cancer, etc. The vet may need to do a cycstocentisis (getting a urine sample with a needle tapping the bladder), blood work to look for systemic evidence of infection (elevated white count), and possibly an x-ray to look for stones.
 
The vet took xray and did not see any stones. Vet said she is glad that Patches is a girl and not a boy because it would be a much worse problem!!

Bladder was too small; she said she wasn't going to try and stick her to get urine sample because she wouldn't get anything. She put her on orbax for 14 days and I gave her first dose yesterday. Vet said if by Tuesday or Wednesday, she is not better, I have to bring her back into the office and leave her for a few hours and they will get the sample. nailbite_smile

I feel so bad for her. I am not working anymore, so this is going to be an added expense, but guess i will just pay $10/month and that's it. :cry:
 
How long on the Orbax before I see some improvements in her? She has been on 2 days and I am not seeing anything yet. She still looks miserable. The vet did say they would check back on Wednesday, so I have to wait until then??????????? confused_cat
