My local pet food store shocked me completely by giving me a full refund on dry food that i had opened just before we got our diagnosis. She said anythong i buy there is returnable, even when opened. She returns it to the supplier and gets a full refund.

Crikey, that's good!

Our unwanted food (ie whatever the cats turn their noses up at because I've just bought a shed-load on special offer... :-| ) goes to our local cat sanctuary. And every time I go there I want to bring all the kitties home with me.....

I take any cat food I can't use anymore to my vet. They are a collection site for the local Council on Aging, who help older people that can't always afford to buy food for their beloved pets. That is how I help out.

I would contact your local shelter or rescue to see if they are able to use it. Or is there a local feral community group? Ferals don't care what they eat!

When I figured out Mikey was allergic to beef, I had a ton of food I had to get rid of. I passed some of it out to various friends to try to get their kitties on to healthy, wet food diets (succeeded with two of them!) and the rest I donated to a local shelter.
