What to do when you go on vacation

Good Morning,
I was wondering what everyone does when they want to go on vacation, and have no one to check the sugars and give the insulin to to your sweat heart. I would like to go away in April, but no one that I know would be willing to do what is necessary to keep Mya's daily checks consistant. Any ideas?
 
Some members hire the vet tech from their vets office.
Some board at the vets office.
Some take them on vacation with them.

Where do you live? Maybe a member would offer to help you out during the time.

I've been very fortunate to have friends, with pets I also care for, who reciprocate. This isn't the kind where you just step in and feed/scoop or let out & back in... Some of our pets have had "special needs". As a result, we do a lot more than just the basics. So I wasn't surprised when I asked three of them if they'd be willing to learn to test/shoot so they could help while I go out of town this summer. No one even flinched! But likewise, it's great to have a "seasoned veteran" from the board that can help too.

Since it took me 1.5 weeks to be able to extract blood from my little turnip, training will be starting soon! Fortunately I've got some extra "practise kitties"! :o :lol:
 
Lu, Since you are in to reciprocating.....I might need some help this weekend! Call me!
 
I have my daughter asking the vet tech at hospital that I take Mya to, maybe she will be willing to watch Mya. But if anyone lives in the Pasadena, Maryland area, maybe we could work something out to help each other. Thanks Karen

Denise - you have to recharge your battery so you can keep up w/ the kitty's right? Do as I say, not as I do! ...but I was failing to recharge mine long before Grayson was dx'ed! I know when I fail to eat right, what an impact that has on me... we're not too much good for our babies if we don't take care of ourselves!

That being said, I am VERY fortunate to have people I can trust w/ the care of my guys... which enables me to go away (although Mom's house doesn't count as "vacation"!). So sometimes we have to just count on our pet sitters and try to enjoy ourselves. (this from someone who has only left Grayson long enough for one shot!) :lol:
 
We don’t go on vacation anymore either. Tom and I go places separately if we can’t be home in 12 hours to shoot. It is a rough go. I am really starting to feel it but we have no choice right now so we press on.
