What should I do with Casey's insulin?

Hi everybody,

I still have about 1/2 bottle of Lantus in the fridge - is that something I can donate to the vet's, or should I discard it? I already gave the vet's all of her other diabetic supplies to give to the Humane Society - glucometer, strips, syringes, a few cans of cat food, etc. - but I wasn't sure what to do with the insulin. Anybody know? Thanks.

I gave Maggie's insulin to the vet and asked her to give it to someone who needs it but couldn't afford it.

Thanks, Debby. Does it matter if it's open? That's the only reason I hesitated, I wasn't sure if they could take an open container because of the possibility of contamination.

A vet really can't take back open meds and sell or give them to someone else.
