Quick run down:
Foster kitty, young...no more than a year. Brought to shelter (or vet???) from someone who was feeding her because her eye looked bad. Two weeks at vet and diagnosis was blind in bad eye. Unknown cause, likely virus, possibly trauma. Cleared for release from vet. No more drainage.

Drainage noticed immediately from both eyes when I got her home. A/b drops and lysine given. No change. Stopped meds.
Changes to eye bad eye, vet visit, specialist referral. Probably wont get in for at least a month.

Recent changes, becoming more drastic by the day. I dont know eye anatomy, but will try to explain.
Outer corner of eye losing a small bit of fur, but not noticing her rubbing it much.
Inner eye was originally about half brown (eyeball) which did track things. Remaining inside of eye was white.
No more tracking, that I can tell.
Eye has progressively dripped more with occassional red tinge when cleaning (in both eyes). White part on/off becoming more red.
Opening of Eye is getting smaller (faster by the day). I can only now see a sliver of brown. Today I noticed a large piece of goop (not clear, watery like before but THICK) covering part of the white. There is no way I can get it out without going INTO her eye. Its not draining.

Im limited to seeing the vet 1 day/week due to shelter agreement and my work schedule. Phone consults maybe 2-3 days/week. Kitty was just in on Friday and changes are happening fast.

She is eating GREAT (a growing kitty :-D ), playful as ever, and ms snuggles...let me lick and chew your ear off. Grooming, pooping, talking, etc just fine. Maybe I should just go with her cues and ignore the eye until we see the specialist? I dont know. This is why I said no to a special needs kitty....worry too much. They told me other than being blind in one eye there was nothing to worry about..

So when does this become an emergency? What signs am I looking for? Im sure right now she would prefer I play or feed her than sit here in worry typing to fdmb. I just need to know. What more can I do, and when do I seek medical help outside the limited call of the shelter vet?

Poor kitty. When Shiloh had his eye infection inside his eye, half of his eye (iris and sclera) had what looked like pus but inside. It was bad. Painful. With his corneal ulcers, the sclera (spelling?) was red tinged. Both needed attention. Are they thinking about removing the eye? Too bad you have to wait so long. I'd think anything with the eye is painful for the cat. Donna
