What numbers are we aiming for?

i know i read it somewhere but i cant find it. What is the most ideal BG number range we are aiming for with our diabetic kitties? Its not good enough just to stay under 250, right?

I have alphatrak2, and my furbaby is on lantus, has the pancreatitis and high liver enzymes/inflammation. We've been surfing nicely today in the blues. Is that a good scenario to shoot for or is green the best? Is green or blue all the time even a possibility?

The only number that FDMB cites for the Alphatrak is the nominal hypo threshold of 68mg/dL / 3.8mmol/L because that is the only reference point they've found any formal information about (from dialogue with Dr Rand in University of Queensland, I think? Don't quote me).

My vets gave me 3.9 - 8.3 mmol/L as the reference range for normal blood glucose levels in a non-diabetic cat.

Green pretty much all the time is a possibility when treating with Lantus, feeding a wet, low carb food and following TR protocol.

I use AT as well.... from what I understand a consistent range of 80-120 on AT is considered healthy/normal... I am sure others will stop by but 80-120 with no insulin is what we are aiming for. Of course this will be after much tweaking and reductions etc....patience:banghead:
Before DX Dre ranged from 70s-90s on blood panel.

Blue is good, but ideally you want to be seeing mostly green. The normal range for a healthy cat, 50-120 (human meter)
The longer our kitties spend in those green numbers the better, it is at this BG levels where most of the healing will occur.
It is possible to achieve that, but some kitties can be harder to regulate than others.

I see dre is on adequan. As a side question do you find it helps? Its for arthritis, right?
