Yes, according to our list, those foods with gravy tend to be higher than 10% carbs. Here is a link to the food list - Food Chart

We try to stick to the pate foods which Fancy Feast labels as Classic. Also, Friskies has some good pate foods. You can add water to it as well, which helps with digestion.

Also, the candle icon is used for cats who have died. You may want to remove it from your post.

Hi again to you and Chewy,

I see Robin has given you the link to the low carb food list. Excellent.

However, as Sue said in your other thread, it's really important that you only switch to lower carb foods if you are hometesting and can monitor the effect of any diet change on Chewy's blood glucose.

That's because lowering the carb content of the diet can significantly reduce insulin requirements. This is especially significant for you because it may be that Chewy has only very recently had a hypo (which would have been caused by too much insulin).

Again, welcome to FDMB!

And please shout out if you need any help with hometesting or with setting up a spreadsheet for Chewy's blood glucose readings. We are here to help.

Just an FYI - we use candles or rainbow icons to indicate the cat has passed away.

Avoid anything with gravy.
Avoid anything that is not pate (although some flaked tuna variety's seem to be low carb).
Always read the ingredients and see if there is anything that might give carbs, and if so how far down the list if ingredients it is.

I do just fine with Special Kitty, Friskies, and 9 lives canned cat foods. I try to buy the larger cans and just use cat food can lids.

I've had great success with Fancy Feast Classics (pate). My cats love the chicken, beef and chicken, and liver flavors.
