Civvie Frankie has persistant watery eyes, sneezing etc. Two others had it but it cleared up on its own. I have on hand Clindamycin, Clavamox and amox.

It may be a herpes virus flair-up. I would give 500 to 1000 mg of L-Lysine daily. Frequently a URI is cause by a virus and an antibiotic will have no effect. Sometimes a secondary bacterial infection develops and an antibiotic is then appropriate.

Here are links from the prior edition of the Merck Manual which may be useful.

Systemic Pharmacotherapeutics of the Respiratory System: Introduction

Without a culture, you won't know what is the 'best' drug; vets and doctors often select one which covers a wide range of pathogens.

You might also go with supportive care - using clean, warm, wet cotton to wipe goo out of the eyes and nose, preservative free moisturizing eyedrops (ex Systane), to help clear the sinuses, and increased humidification to help loosen mucus in the lungs.
