My Buddy has slowed down tremendously this year. I know nothing is "normal", but I've never had a cat this long, and wonder if he's
sick or just old. he sleeps 18-20 hours a day now (being the only cat, not much else to do, even tho' i am home all day).
he never wants to play. still purrs, pees, but preening is not as excessive as it was most of his life.
he seems sad and bored, even though I adore him day and night.
the biggest change I've noticed is that at times he will go behind the radiator in the corner and face the wall, as if he is being punished, something he's never done before. Vet tests came back ok, although possible kidney issue ( another post).
For those of you with an old cat--have you ever experienced any of these signs? Thanks very much!

It sounds like something is bothering him. I wish they could talk. I'm big on ultrasounds. I've had cats in the past and present with normal blood work and the ultrasound would usually show what was going on. With kidney issues it can be hard. I had a cat with a creat that would sit around 2.4 to 2.6 and he felt pretty bad. Brie had a creat over the summer of 3.9 and seemed fine. We found that on his yearly blood work. Sometimes you also have to ask yourself what are you going to do with this info when you do advanced testing. I love info but sometimes the info isn't going to change anything that you are already doing. Brie sleeps a lot too. He's almost 16.

my cat is 16, too. He sleeps a lot, too, most of time on the couch. Sometime next the radiator, too, sometime facing the wall and staring at it, too.
He doesn't like to play any fake bird, mice what so ever, but he likes to chase laser light. Recently I got a new laser toy from Unleash for $3.99. The only thing still makes him run like a kitty. ( a chipmunk will do the same job but it is not a good choice)
Make sure the batteries work right in the store. The first one I got didn't work.

(re-posting because my original post vanished!)

Have you tested your cat's BG at these times? The hiding and/or 'facing the wall' can be symptoms of hypo...
