what gauge size means

Just gave some advice and wanted to be sure of something I've been "Sure about" for years. Gauge numbers in wiring, sheet metal AND SYRINGES, the higher the number, the thinner. My 33 gauge lancets and 31 gauge syringes make a 28 gauge syringe look like a ten inch nail. Yes???

Correct. For example, a 28 gauge lancet is thicker than a 30 gauge lancet.
