About a week ago I noticed a pink spot (blood) on Fred's diaper. I thought I noticed some mucus. I took him to the vet. She squeezed his penis and said it looked fine, maybe a little irritated. She squeezed his bladder and said the fluid was clear, no blood. She said she didn't think it was a UTI, although she did not do any tests. (I had been there the week before and done blood tests so wasn't nec. in a hurry to do it again one week later)
Later the next day after a few clear diapers, there was more blood on his diaper. One coagulated bb-sized piece and then some redder spots.I called the same vet that day, day after I saw her, it was a Saturday and she was the oncall vet. She sort of dismissed it again. She also feels like Fred is too old to deal with so she sort of brushed me off in general. Anyway, so I didn't get the sense that it was something to worry about, but I also didn't get a sense of what it might be.
She had given me this stuff: chlorhexiderm flush to wipe him with twice a day.
I then didn't see any blood all week but it seems like he would always be wet around the penis area....and this has not been something I"ve noticed before--the diaper tends sto absorb the pee, it doesn't stay on the fur unless it's a multiple diaper. I was seeing a few dark spots, maybe not blood, maybe dark urine...
He had been on one TID dose of Lasix 2 days before this started and I'm wondering if the dehydration did something?
Anyway, it's been a week and I just saw a little bit of mucus and again the wet fur area....
There don't appear to be any problems that I can see, peeing and pooping is fine. I have not given him any Lasix in a week. I think I saw a pink spot yesterday, but in general, the bleeding is not nec. there and things don't seem to be progressing, although there is this stuff....
any ideas?
