I have only been able to stay @ a certain dose the last couple of days because of my busy schedule. Starting tomorrow i can either go up or down on insulin. Please look at SS and numbers and give me your opionio's on what you think is going on. I was surprised that the amps was lower than the midcycle number. I know that is an indication of too high of dose of insulin. However, the last couple of cycle's before that looked liked he needed more insulin. Now not sure what to do?

Your thoughts please...

Thanks!

Hi Lori,
I was surprised that the amps was lower than the midcycle number. I know that is an indication of too high of dose of insulin.
It can indicate that, but that isn't a definite "rule". It's the only cycle you have seen that on recently. Remember the really important advice that Dr. P. posted last week?
Look for repeatability before panicking or making any important decision.
It's a one-time thing at this point, not a repeating pattern. Looking at Copper's numbers, I think a .25 increase would be the way to go, in my opinion. Glad you posted this here, and maybe somebody else will have a different take on it.

Thanks Carl. I was thinking on all the last cycles that he needed to go up to 2.5 or more but i just couldn't be here to watch him closely. I will probably go up tonight and try the 2.5u. We shall see.

I agree with going up to 2.5u. A slight inverse curve doesn't always mean too little insulin, like has already been said. Sometimes there are several hours of no food before a shot and bringing in a big meal at shot time can overwhelm the insulin, which will give you an inverse curve. Oscar is the king of those :YMSIGH:

With Oscar, would you change the feeding routine to try to get more consistency? Or the portion sizes?

Carl

I have changed his feeding routine. He gets 6 small meals throughout the day - 3 am and 3 pm. The problem comes at night when he goes longer between his last meal and the am meal/shot. I can't leave food out in an auto feeder now that we have Yoda because Yoda is a piggie and will get it all before Oscar. Just a pattern I know I have to account for when I look at his numbers.
