Hi everyone, there is something I do not understand, I feel that I want my cat to go into the blue numbers, and he's not been there for a long time
Can someone please tell me were we aim for? I do understand that blue numbers can go to remission, if they stay steady for 2 weeks, but do we aim for that in a diabetic cat that is not in remission, so for nadir, do we want to see blue or is it better if that number is higher in a diabetic cat, in the yellows for example, I'm guessing that pink nadir numbers mean you need to up the dosige?
My cat has been in the pinks mostly pre shot and an occasional red and yellow, but I have to say that I mostly don't get to have him fast for 2 hours, for a variety of reasons but when I do fast him for 2 hours he's mostly also high, it's not like if I do it's lower
Tonight he did not, and he was in the red (433), I took 3 and a half hours later and he was 259. Does this mean the insulin is working? I feel I should be giving more but that's based on nothing because although I've tried to inform myself as best as I can, when you're relatively new to this it's not only all this new information you'll have to grasp but there's a lot of emotion interwoven with the situation and that can make it kind of messy for me
I'll have to say that I'm not making it easy for him because of my work situation, I have to walk him back and forth often, because I work 2 days from 5 in the morning till 1 pm, then 1 pm to 9 pm and then 9 pm to 5 pm. The worst is from morning to evening, because then I'll have to do it at 4am, and on the day I can do it at 4 pm but when I move the shift to evening I'm not home at 4pm so this is really complicated en more then the 2 hour window they say you can take from time to time. And there is just really nothing to do about that but adapt and go with it. But I don't know if this is what keeps him high. The whole of August I was home on vacation and could do the 12 hour window, but that didn't change anything, he was even hospitalized with ketoacidose in the last week
Anyway, if someone could explain what we are aiming for in numbers and maybe give some dosing advice I would be much obliged
Thank you all you lovely people, sending you all my love
With a special thanks to Marje and Gracie who has been patiently helping me set up my spreadsheet
