what are the normal ranges

Normal is between 40 - 130 on a human glucometer.

The lowest you want your cat to go between shots is 50 mg/dL on a human meter if following a Tight Regulation protocol; 90 mg/dL if following the Start Low, Go Slow protocol. This gives you a small buffer zone to accommodate the +/- 20% variation which is FDA-allowed in home glucometers.

See my signature link Glucometer Notes for more details.

Also if you look at some of the spreadsheets some of us have in our signatures you'll get a better idea of what blood sugars look like on various types and levels of insulin. Blood sugar can go up or down hundreds of points within an hour because of insulin or what the cat has eaten. You have to get quite a few data points to get an idea of what's going on.

Good luck!
