? What am I doing wrong?

Good morning all. I am not sure what I am doing wrong at this point. The vet put Max on prescription glycobalance wet for his diabetes and/or combination or dry. I know dry is bad also, but as I was looking the carb count in these items is alot. I was feeding the Fancy Feast pates before but he was diagnosed with beginning stages of kidney disease as his SDMA came back elevated yesterday. As I was looking the FF pates are through the roof in phosphorus and high protein which is hard on the kidneys. Also, I asked him his thoughts on grain free and he said not to feed grain free. I do trust his expertise but does anyone have any ideas of what else I can give him to get his sugars stabilize so we can start assessing the kidney disease. I know the weruva cans are grain free. Any thoughts/advice.????:(

I am feeding Weruva Paw lickin chicken-low carb and low phosphorus. I have a sugar baby and a ckd cat. So I needed something that would work for both of them. Mugzees numbers are high and climbing. He has had an ear infection, which was treated, but he is rubbing on it again. I sent my numbers to the Vet and am waiting to see what he says.

I use Weruva. Steak frites is not too bad in phosphorus - as long as your cat likes it. Djoko is unfortunately not a fat and I have to mix it with other cans. La Isla Bonita is not too bad either.

high protein which is hard on the kidneys

This is "old school" thinking. Actually, until the kitty is in end stages of kidney failure, they should eat good quality protein, not restricted protein. Reducing the protein just leads to muscle wasting.

The Weruva line of foods has lots of variety, both in flavor and style. They have a good selection of foods that are both low carb and low phosphorus (and they're one of the few companies that list nutritional breakdowns for every single food on their website!)
