HI there, I am relatively new to the message board and getting wonderful assistance from the lantus group. I have been fairly successful in getting my cat on a wet food diet. One other positive from this is Tillie, the Queen of Everything, who is not diabetic, is also eating wet food now too. She has had problems with feline acne for years and since eating wet food, her skin is almost flawless! Just a coincidence or has anyone else had that experience?

My cats began eating all wet food in the fall of last year when one of the boys was diagnosed with diabetes. The girls have had some little black specks under their chins for a while with no problems but then in the spring one of the girls actually had some bumps appear. She also had a big red swollen bump on her bottom lip two times. All that to say, it may be a coincidence with your cat. But be happy no matter what!

What type of food are they eating?

Thanks for the info about allergens in dry food, I had not thought about that until just recently. They are eating Blue Buffalo tuna entree, and Fancy Feast classic mostly chicken and turkey. I've tried some of the merrick, wellness and evo but no takers on those yet!

what kind of dishes/bowls do you use? Plastic products tend to cause acne, so if you are using plastic for food or water, try changing to ceramic, glass or metal.

Yes, I am using exclusively ceramic now. I also change the bowls after each use and wash them in the dishwasher. That made a huge difference when I started doing that. Still, she would periodically have outbreaks every few weeks. Since on the wet food diet she has not had an outbreak, so was just wondering if the wet food diet had any effect on feline acne. Thanks for the info!
