Can someone explain what might have happened here? Yesterday morning Ben's pre-shoot number was 555 (not unusual since I had to work the night before and he usually is really high when I get home). Gave him his normal dose which brought him down to 268 for his p.m. pre-shot. Gave his dose last night and went to work. Ended up flying to Salt Lake City and got home late. So I checked his sugar at what would be the +15 mark. And his sugar was 68?!? (and I checked it several times--68 is the average) And I'm pretty sure none of the other cats gave him his morning dose. Now 5 hours later he is 470. Any ideas? And what dose should I give him tonight? I won't be home to check him through out the cycle.

Hmmmnnn. He may have a sputtering pancreas where every so often it kicks in and lowers the glucose, then other times can't cope and the glucose rises.

That'd be a nice thing (Mr. P coming to visit) but it does make things harder to figure out. You never know when he might get that extra boost and drop lower than expected. The 1.6 looks good for the black and red pre shots. Maybe one unit for anything around 200 and leave some food out?

That would explain the occasional quick drops. How fun to think that his panaceas might be coming back on line even a little. One of my civies just got diagnosed with kidney disease so maybe Ben feels I need some good news. *wink*
And he always has a bowl of Young again food out. He seems to be good about snacking if his numbers drop too much.

I've heard that kitties seem to know when they drop low they need a quick bite. So, it's good that he has some food out in case he needs it!
