Hi All,
This forum has been phenomenal!! Shigella and I have been just....doing our thing, doing well. He's on Lantus, 2U. I know I desperately need to update his spreadsheet but his numbers are so steady I keep forgetting to go in and do it. I'm doing it THIS WEEK! I've gotten him an automatic feeder so he gets 1/3 can Fancy Feast every 2 hrs except for shot time where he gets 1 can and some baked chicken (treats for all my stabbings trying to get blood). His numbers are usually around 250 at shot time and drop down to ~90 in between so all in all I think he's pretty decently regulated. The vet said his fructosamine looks great so keep on keepin on. He plays with the dog and his toys and acts totally normal and fine.
So lets talk puke. This past week the batteries in the automatic feeder died and within a half hour he was vomiting what honestly appears to be diarrhea(?!). Its rancid. There's not really yellow bile or food or fur or anything. I swear it has to be....liquid poop! But his BG is still ~250. I've noticed before if he's off schedule with the feedings his BG will go up (one time the dog counter-surfed and ate his meal; it's in a gated room now) but I've never seen the vomit like this before. He doesn't act like anythings wrong tho so I'm reticent to call it pancreatitis--no lethargy or diarrhea or acting abnormal in anyway. It's almost like he KNOWS I'll come running when I hear the dry heaves and notice the feeder isn't working (silly I know). But he's done it almost daily for a week now, even after I've reset the auto-feeder, like clockwork before his AM shot.
We're scheduled to go back to the vet in June but I wanted to check here to see what you guys think. At this point our vet is sort of a resource for insulin but not much else as I've gotten more more from here. THANKS!!!
