If a human needs to cut 3,000 calories to lost a pound, then how many calories should be cut from a cat's diet for it to lose a pound? I have cut Joey's intake, but it seems to be taking forever to see results. I just wonder what a cat's requirements are to lose. Thanks.

Yes, I know the dangers of a rapid reduction in food.

A calorie is basically a calorie. It doe not depend up the species. Therefore, it should take 3000 less calories for a kitty to lose one pound.

I guess I won't live long enough to see him get down to his old 12 lbs. I'll be happy with 15 at this point. He's about 19 plus right now. Thanks for the definite answer.
