Hi! I’m new to the forum but not to diabetes.

My cat (Koshka) was diagnosed in 2018 and has been on Lantus ever since. She’s currently stable on her dose of 0.25; most of her sugars are between 105-150 depending on the day but she has been doing pretty well.
She was a stray so I don’t know how old she is, but she’s approximately 11 years old. She’s always been very tiny; at her largest she was 10lbs and was overweight at that point. She lost some weight before her diagnosis but then her weight stabilized. She’s now looking thinner and I can feel her hip and shoulder bones. Her last vet visit was around 6 months ago and at that time she weight 7.1lbs.
I’m curious if there’s any way I can help her gain some weight? She does seem to have a never ending appetite and is always hunting for crumbs but again, she’s been stable on her prescription DM wet food and her insulin has decreased over time.

I’m hoping to reach out to her vet as well, I just hope they don’t want to see her yet because she’s a monster to bring there and it’s an all day affair. She hasn’t been displaying any other symptoms or anything abnormal. She is on 0.5 of fluoxetine daily, which she has been on for around 9 months.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Thank you in advance!

My first thought was a vet visit for blood work. Or maybe you can get a vet tech to visit the house for a blood draw? There are a number of other conditions that can cause a cat to lose weight. GI diseases and hyperthyroidism are two such.

DM isn't necessary for a diabetic. Maybe find an alternative low carb food with higher calories? Like a kitten food. Are you weighing her regularly at home? How many cans/calories is she getting per day now?
