We messed up

Poor Tigger. Gave him his insulin yesterday morning at 7:30am,but then I was gone last evening and left it up to my husband to feed him and give him his evening shot. Well, he gave them a 1/2 can at 6, but then didn't test him or give him his insulin till nearly 8:30 PM and he was up to 500! This morning he was back in the 300+ range so I fed him but then I forgot his insulin! So nearly 2 hours later I tested them again and he's at 497 and I gave him his insulin. We've really made a mess!

I think we've all done it. I've tested, sat down on the couch talking to hubby about dose and an hour later we realize neither of us gave a shot I have an alarm on my phone now for shots and try to only hit snooze and not cancel until after the insulin is in the cat. Just work on getting him back on schedule. Vetsulin is in an in-and-out insulin so you should be able to get back on track quickly.

I've done it, too. Vetsulin is very forgiving of this, lol! You'll be back on track in no time.

Please correct me if I'm wrong....since he didn't get his shot until 10am, technically he wouldn't be due for his PM shot until 10pm, right? I believe I've read that with Vetsulin, we could move up the time to maybe an hour earlier...9pm...to start to get him back on his schedule (8am-8pm)...or do we need to wait? Could I shoot him at 8pm even though it will only have been 10 hrs? I tested him at almost +7, and he's already starting the rise up, he was 283.

You could definitely dose an hour early - as long as he is definitely headed up. I'd be nervous shooting at +10.

Yeah, after too many missed doses I set alarms on my phone for both shot times.
