Water intake

It's been almost two weeks since Moe has had dry food and her water intake has drastically changed for the better I'm hoping.

Before she would eat FF w/gravy (bad stuff) and dry food at night. About two weeks ago she was drinking 3/4-1 cup per day and each day has gone down. The last couple days she's drinking 1/4 cup per day with canned food only.

Tomorrow I'm planning to test her urine with an at home kit. I bought the glucose meter but I still too nervous to use it. Any suggestions for how to not have your cat try to bite you while doing it?

Hi Moe's bean!
Remember to look at those instruction links on your other thread when you can :). I had to remember if you were starting insulin yet, so this is just with diet change :). Try not to be nervous about using the glucometer, I know it's easier said than done. You aren't poking her ear to hurt her, but to help her :bighug:. Does Moe try to bite or are you guessing she might?. A few people have been afraid of that and then their kitty doesn't even care. If it is a real issue, you might need to try the Caturrito

Thanks for the video! She isn't a biter but under stress like going to the vet or holding her down for something she gets pretty antsy.

Just make sure to use sweet kitty voice and do something positive after the test, even if unsuccessful. She should learn to associate the routine as a positive experience, via treats, play, catnip, scritches, grooming, etc whatever she likes! Some people even hum a nursery rhyme when starting testing, helps calm you and uses a different part of your brain :). You may even get to a point where she doesn't need the caturrito anymore ;). Good luck!
