I carelessly left the bottle of Vestulin on the counter overnight, instead of returning it to the refrigerator. Is it still OK to use? My cat Jack was diagnosed with diabetes a few weeks ago, and his BG number is coming down. My vet's office is closed on the weekend, so I can't get another bottle until Monday. He's on 2 units twice a day.

The only way to tell that for sure is to check his BG, give the shot, and test again at maybe +3 or +4 hours after the shot to see if his blood sugar is going down. I left a bottle of vetsulin out overnight once and it was fine.

Also, if you have a written prescription from your vet, I had one that came with the vial, you may be able to get a new vial if you need to from another vet that is open on weekends.

I left it out overnight and my vet said it would be OK. Just don't leave it out over a long period of time. The longer it is warm, might affect how long it will stay good.

Thanks for your replies. I'm new to the forum, but I think I will be a frequent visitor. My 13+ yr. old cat was recently diagnosed with diabetes, and his numbers are coming down. I do not yet have a home testing kit. I will ask the vet about it.
