Walmart Relion Insulin, Should I switch?

Hi. I get my Lantus prescription at Walmart. Has anyone had any experience with it? Is it even an option for my cat? The pharmacy assistant, who has helped for about 5 years, told me that it was cheaper than Lantus and works the same. I would like cheaper, but obviously do not want to make the decision solely based on economics. My cat's well-being means much more to us. I wanted to check with this forum before moving forward and asking my vet on changing his prescription.

Hi,
If I remember correctly, I'd read something in the Facebook group about this. I'm 99.9% sure that it works well for humans, but NOT for cats.
I'd get more opinions, but that is what I remember!

The Relion insulin at WalMart is NOT Lantus!! It's the same thing as Novolin N or Humulin N and it's not a good insulin for cats at all!

You are not the first person to be told that either. I see it here every once in awhile and it happened to me too! Luckily, I didn't fall for it .

You can get Lantus a lot more affordably from Canada. A 5 pack of Lantus Solostar pens is 1500 units of insulin and is enough to last most cats at least 1 year and some up to 2 years! That makes it between $8-15/month for insulin.

Here's where most of us here are buying our Lantus from
