Vomiting and Diarrhea

I'm so scared right now.

I came home today to find 2 piles of vomit and 2 piles of diarrhea on the floor. I feel like should go to the vet, but everything I read talks about so many tests and procedures ($$$), and I still haven't paid off his last visit.

I missed his insulin 2 nights ago due to work and other obligations with my 2 yr old. He got into some fish last night with bone.

I feel like I'm being a horrible cat owner because I can't find the time to take care of him, my daughter, and be part of my sisters wedding coming up. So many things keep taking me away from giving him the attention he needs.

I don't know what to do financially or with my time. I'm going crazy trying to decide whether I should take him in or give up.

Is he eating OK? Have you checked to see if he's dehydrated? That's the real worry when they are vomiting or have diarrhea.

You can also feel his gums...they should be slick, not gummy/sticky

How's he seem to feel otherwise?

He took a while to eat his food, but he ate all of his food. I pulled his skin up and it retracted quickly, so he doesn't seem dehydrated. However, he does seem to be feeling a lot better all of a sudden. Maybe because he ate and held it down this time. He's walking and talking to me again. He is also coming over for a nice pet. Before he seemed lethargic and weak, but now, it seems as though he bounced back. Could this be an illusion?

It's possible he just got a little bug or whatever he ate earlier wasn't good and it caused him to vomit and have some diarrhea

If he's feeling better now, I'd just give him a hug and a scratch and hope he stays better!!

Are you doing any home testing? I really encourage you to start as soon as possible. There's just so much you can learn by home testing, like when he usually nadrs, how low the dose is taking him and all kinds of good stuff to know.

If you could add some info into your signature that would help too....Most of us have Our name/cats name, age, sex, date of diagnosis, any other health issues?
What type of insulin, what type of meter you use, what food you're feeding.

We'd also like to encourage you to get our spreadsheet program going. It's a very important "tool" in our fighting diabetes toolbox! Here are Instructions on getting the FDMB spreadsheet

The link to your spreadsheet would also go into the signature area.

To open your signature area, just to to the top right side of the page and find your sign on name. Click on it and find "Signature" and a new box will pop up for you to enter all that information

Once you're done you just hit "save" and it's done! Then we wouldn't have to keep asking the same questions over and over again.
