Where abouts can I find Vitamin B12 Liquid? I've looked a few places and cant seem to find it, other then online. Do you have the kind that has a taste to it? Does your cat still eat its food if it has taste with it? Which brand do you use as well?

I am interested in this too. I asked my vet about it, but she was unfamiliar. My vet said Ninja (my cat) had minor symptoms of neuropathy. She does not jump as high as she used to and seems to have some weakness in her tail. Is this B12 recommended for cats with minor neuropathy, or protective for cats running higher numbers -- to ensure they do not get neuropathy? And is it safe for long term use? Looking for feedback from anyone who has used this, the amount they used, and their results. Do you use this on an ongoing basis, or an occasional basis based on symptoms, etc? Please let me know what worked, or did not work, for you. Thanks! PS to Victoriamamie... I hope you don't mind me adding questions to your original post. :)
 
Only methyl B12 (aka methylcobalamin) works for neuropathy. Regular B12 does not work.

Life Link makes Xobaline which I belive is a small pill that you can easily hide in food, either as is or crushed up.
 
Melanie, no no no! Go right ahead! Those are good questions that I havent thought of! The only thing I have really gotten an answer to is say you start giving your kitty Methyl B12 and she say doesnt have neuropathy, it wont affect her in a bad way so I would assume you could give it to your kitty long term, even if its symptoms go away.

I knew that it had to be the methyl type, but was too lazy to type it all out. Whoops!
Like I said, I've looked online and they seem to all have cherry flavor, which I'm sure my kitty wont like. I'm scared of buying the pills, opening them up and putting it in her food that she'll be able to tell, thats why I was hoping for liquid.

I did some more looking, and naturalfactors.com does have B12 Methyl tablets, and there is a link on there that does show you stores around you that carry the types of things on the website. I figured this may help someone else looking :)
 
Mary has been getting the cherry flavored pills ground up and mixed with her food and she doesn't seem to mind it. I got mine from the Vitamin Shoppe. They call them "lozenges" but they are just normal looking pills and not candy type things
 
Lisa, are you just giving her one pill a day then? and how many MCGs are they?

I found some at a store today and bought them. They are 1000 MCGs. There were also 5000 MCGs there but Id rather be too low then high because I'm not familiar with these numbers. I cut one in half and just gave half with her food tonight and she didnt seem to mind it (YAHOO!). I'm just curious how much I should be giving her a day. Thanks! :)
 
The recommended dose is 3mg/3000mcg so I've been grinding one 1000mcg tablet up in each can of FF. You don't havd to worry too much about giving too much as its a water soluble vitamin and they'll just pee it out if their body doesn't need it
 
All older cats would do well to be given B12; 10yrs and older is a fair good time to start if not giving already.
