My cat just got put on vetsilun starting today for newly diagnosed diabetes. I was giving him the fancy feast classic Patte as the main meals and Orijen here and there. He will no longer eat the fancy feast. Ive been told to mainly just focus on low carb which i have down. But after doing my own research it talks alot about phosphorus. My cat only has diabetes he does not have any current kidney issues, he was checked 2 months ago. However he is 14. I've been told from the vet not to focus on phosphorus to much but wouldn't feeding him food with high phosphorus levels eventually lead to kidney problems? Just looking for some other thoughts on this as I'm going crazy trying to find a new food. I was giving a list with tons of food but alot of these have vegetables or other ingredients and after more research it seems giving vegetables and some of these other ingredients to a diabetic or senior cat isnt entirly bad but not recommended. So finding low carb, low phosphors, grain and soy free, natural ingredients has been extremely hard. Orijen is a little pricey to give 3 times a day everyday so looking for other options.
