Off Topic -- Sister of diabetic cat
My little girl, Nala, is not so young any more! (14-15 years old) She isn't a biological sister to Mister Mistopheles, but they've lived together for 14 years so we just call it that.
Anywho.... Mister getting CKD and diabetes and etc etc etc has opened our eyes and we are taking her in TODAY at 6 pm EST for a checkup. I want to get *everything* possibly checked!! We don't want to be blindsided like we were with Mister's health.
What should I ask for? What types of things should I request? I know it's crazy, but I feel like saying "Everything you could possibly test for, do it." But I feel like my vet would think I'm nuts. Can y'all give me any advice?

I would explain your concerns to him exactly as you have described them here, then ask what tests it is possible to do, and then have him explain and discuss with you why or why not he feels each one is necessary. There are scads of things to test for, but not all of them would be necessary, or apply, in her case.

I guess I'm ultra-sensitive right now.

Get a Senior blood panel, including a SDMA test (only done by IDEXX lab, so you'll need to ask what lab they use...Antech or Idexx) The SDMA is the newest test for kidney's.

My vet uses Antech so I had to pay for them to send a sample to Idexx but I really wanted to know the results!

A complete urinalysis is a good idea too

Edited to add...don't forget to make sure they include a thyroid test in their blood panel
