Well, Frankie has had high numbers for a few weeks now, despite increasing the insulin. Had a few puzzled people on here asking if he had an infection or anything. I said no because at the time, there was no evidence. Now, I think there is. He has been off his food one day, then the next day ravenous, then off again. On the pee pads under the litter trays was a small pinkish patch. It wasn't enough for a full wee and he never goes outside the box, and true it could be one of 5 others but it all seems a bit suspicious. Trouble is, being in the UK, they don't hold stocks of Lantus and they would probably give him the dry prescription food, so I am going to have to load up the car with cat, carrier, Lantus, syringes, heart pills, Zobaline and his food, just in case they decide to keep him in hospital. Wish me (and Frankie) luck!!!

Isn't it typical, he is back to normal now!! He fell on the food like an animal possessed and his glucose is down to 9.7 (175). He has no ketones and no blood in his urine, so all good!! I have cancelled the vet appointment as I would prefer to monitor over the weekend and see how he does when I am a bit less pushed for time. My vet is a 24 hour vet so I can always take him if I'm at all concerned.

Your Frankie and my Tuxie are definitely reading from the same play book. With Frankie it appears everytime he hits lower numbers he bounces back up into high numbers for the next week or so, before settling down. Hopefully Frankie is now over his high bounce stage and will settle into some better numbers for you.

I wish he would show me what he's reading from as sometimes he totally stumps me. He ate well overnight and this morning again and his amps is 17.5 (315) so I am quite happy with him so far. Paws crossed he is over whatever it was that made him ill.
