Vet tech/qualified cat sitter in Boston?

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone may have some recommendations or ideas. I live in Boston (South Boston, to be specific). I have a vacation scheduled the last 2 weeks in October (scheduled months before Bunny was dx). The cat sitter I had been using for years is not able to accommodate Bunny's insulin/testing schedule. None of the other pet sitting services that I have found are able to accommodate him either. I've scoured Angie's List and sent a request through Care.com.

The vet does medical boarding but the hours don't even come close to fitting his injection schedule. I asked if they knew of anyone who could cat sit and they said no (which leads me to believe their vet techs don't do it on the side although I will ask explicitly when I call with his curve data tomorrow). I've checked with Angell (the biggest vet hospital in the area). They can board him but it is prohibitively expensive and my other cat (Jenkins) would be boarded in a separate wing of the hospital (in which case I'd keep him at home and have the cat sitter come to take care of him). Separating the cats will stress them both out. I'd like Angell/cat sitter to be a last resort option because of the cost and the stress (it is more expensive than the entire 2 week vacation). I also asked Angell about cat sitters and they referred me to Care.com.

I have considered taking the cats with me. It's an international trip, so there are several considerations which I am researching.

Does anyone know of anybody in the Boston area who might be able to take care of my cats? I'm open to someone staying in my home or stopping by for the shots/monitoring. Any other ideas? I'm getting very nervous this and it's only 6 weeks away.

Thank you,
Angela

p.s., I apologize for not doing an introduction message on the Introductions board; I went straight to the ProZinc board

Hi there! I live relatively close to Boston(well like an hour away, but as this is an international board, I'd say I'm probably one of the closest haha), but due to work and my own pets, I doubt I'd be able to fit in taking care of your babies. Sorry! :(
But don't worry! I did a quick google search of just 'Boston cat sitter insulin' and the very first result was this yelp page: https://www.yelp.com/biz/just-4-cats-boston
I'm not sure if that one will work for you, but she seems to have great reviews and has experience with diabetics.
And the second result was this business: http://www.tlkpetcare.com/pet-sitting/
So check those out, compare prices, and if they still don't seem to work out, I guarantee a similar google search would produce more results. Don't stress! :)

Ask your vet if they have any other diabetic feline patients. I advised my vet that I would be willing to cat sit diabetic cats. I am in Washington State so it won't help you. No one has called me yet, but asking vets in your area may provide you with names of folks who are not members of this board.
