Tomorrow Fern has a follow-up from his dental and I'm going to make sure I have his SS available and am planning to make it a consult appointment. Other than the fact that I can see that he responds very well to Prozinc based on his intermediate readings most of the time does anyone see anything glaring in his chart that I should point out. I know I'm personally hesitant to increase his dose because of the multiple times he has dropped into the greens from above 300. (although I haven't seen it in the past 2 weeks). I will mention I have some u100 syringes and ask if she thinks switching to them might be better to fine tune dosages and if we need to look at having more than 3 doses. Currently we have above 300 2.5u, 250-300 1u and ns below 250 per her instructions I have basically stuck with that although I have shot between 200-250 based on rising numbers 20 minutes apart with no/minimal food.

I will also be asking if she thinks we should stick to Prozinc or seek a possible other treatment because I'm down to about a 1/3 of the bottle left so would be looking to either get a new one bottle of Prozinc or get started on a new therapy. I plan to bring up the fact that the adjustable dosing of Prozinc is both a positive and a negative for me personally. I hate seeing the high numbers after a bounce and I hate seeing the numbers continue to climb when I gave a lower dose but I also don't want to send him Hypo by going higher even though I expect it to be the opposite. Even though I don't have the numbers to prove it, I think his nadir is moving around based on who knows what is going on in his little kitty body and it is driving me bonkers. I don't know if switching to Lantus would be better for us or not but I figure it's as good of a time to ask as any. I want to make sure Fern's treatment is the best for both of us.

He still looks pretty high to me. I don't see low enough numbers to bounce from. If he were mine, I would raise the scale, at least for the higher ranges.

It may be that a depot insulin would give you flatter, longer cycles. The difficulty might be that it is dosed based on the nadir only, and I know those are hard for you to get.

Yeah, I'm torn between raising the dose and not. I think I should but am scared to do so.

Because you can't monitor? Will you be around this weekend? If so, that would be a good opportunity, getting a nadir number to see what is going on with an increase.

If it's because you are afraid he will drop low, you could set up a plan for that (by doing so, almost certainly guaranteeing you won't have to use it. :p). Have gravy food and honey at the ready.

Both. This weekend is out probably I'm working both days. If I'm going to up I'll start next Friday. I will have a 4 day weekend to monitor. I have both ready since his 55 back mid month which is why he went higher right?

The 55 might have caused a bounce for the next cycle or next few cycles, but it shouldn't be influencing his numbers at this point. He might be bouncing from the blues you've seen, but it could be that the insulin just isn't lasting long enough and wears off by pre shot.

Talked with the Vet she agrees to go up to 3u if over 300. I mentioned I have some u100 syrings if we feel that we need a more fine tuned dose. I didn't mention that I basically gave that 3u this morning. I also didn't mention I have given doses below 250.

ETA oh and his teeth look like they are doing good post dental.
